Terms of Use
1. Who runs this
RankMe World ("the site", "we") is run by the RankMe World team. You can reach us at [to be completed: a way to contact you: an email address or a link].
By paying for a rank, or by signing in with a wallet, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
2. Who may use it
- You must be at least 18 years old, and old enough to enter a contract where you live.
- You must not use the site if doing so is against the law where you are, or if you are subject to financial sanctions (for example those of the EU, the UK, the UN or the US), or are acting for someone who is.
- The wallet you pay from, and the funds in it, must be yours to use. You must not pay with funds that come from crime.
3. What you are buying
A payment places you on a public leaderboard at a rank decided by the dollar value of that payment at the moment it was quoted. That is all it buys. In particular:
- No return. A rank is not an investment, a token, a security, a share in anything, or a bet. It cannot be sold, transferred, redeemed or cashed out, and we will never pay you for it.
- No permanence. Any other player can take your rank at any time by paying more than you did. After you take a rank from someone it cannot be taken from you directly for 10 minutes; after that there is no protection. You get nothing back when you are overtaken.
- Fixed in dollars. Your rank's value is set in US dollars when you pay. It does not rise or fall with the price of the token you paid with.
- Decay and seasons. The value of the top ranks reduces over time, and the board is cleared at the end of each season, as described on the site's "What is this?" page. Achievements, prestige and Hall of Fame entries are a record of play and have no monetary value.
- Rules can change. We may change prices, premiums, decay, season length, achievements and other rules. Changes apply to moves made after the change.
4. Paying
- Payment is in cryptocurrency only, on the networks and in the tokens the site lists at the time (Starknet, Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Solana). We accept a token as a way to pay; that is not a recommendation to buy or hold it.
- Each move is quoted as an exact amount of a token, valid for 5 minutes. You must send exactly that amount, in that token, on that network, from the wallet you connected. A payment that arrives after the quote has expired is valued at the token's price when we check it, if that is lower.
- Payments that do not match a quote (wrong amount, token, network or sending wallet, or sent without using the site) cannot be matched to you automatically and may be lost. Write to us and we will try to help, but we do not promise to recover or credit them.
- Network fees are charged by the blockchain, not by us, and are yours to pay, including for transactions that fail.
- Blockchain transactions cannot be reversed by you or by us. We never have access to your wallet, your keys or your recovery phrase, and we will never ask for them.
- You are responsible for any tax you owe in connection with your payments.
5. Payments are final
All payments are final and non-refundable, including when your rank is taken by someone else, reduced by decay, cleared at the end of a season, or when your content is removed for breaking these terms.
If you are a consumer in the EU, the UK or another place that gives you a right to cancel an online purchase within a set period: your rank is digital content delivered the moment your payment confirms. By paying you ask us to deliver it immediately and you accept that you lose that right to cancel once it has been delivered.
None of this affects rights you have by law that cannot be given up. If we made a mistake (for example you were charged but received no rank because of a fault on our side), write to [to be completed: a way to contact you: an email address or a link] with the transaction and we will put it right.
6. Not financial advice
Nothing on the site is financial, investment, legal or tax advice. Token prices, charts and "worth now" figures come from third parties, may be wrong or late, and are shown for interest only. Cryptocurrency prices move sharply and you can lose money holding them.
7. Your name, picture and words
Your username, avatar, profile picture, bio, colours and taunts are shown publicly. You keep whatever rights you have in them, and you give us permission to show, store and reproduce them on the site and in material about the site (for example the Hall of Fame and shared screenshots) for as long as the site exists.
You must not post anything that:
- is hateful, threatening, harassing, or shows nudity or sexual content, or encourages violence or self-harm;
- is illegal, or promotes something illegal;
- pretends to be another person, a company, or the site and its staff;
- reveals someone else's private information;
- infringes someone else's copyright, trade mark or other rights;
- is an advertisement, a link, or a promotion of a token, product or scheme.
We may remove or replace any content, rename an account, or switch off an account's ability to post, at our discretion and without a refund. We aim to act on what breaks these rules but we do not review everything before it appears.
8. Reporting content
Every profile has a report button (⚑). You can also write to [to be completed: a way to contact you: an email address or a link]; say which profile and what is wrong with it. If you believe content is illegal or infringes your rights, tell us why, and where we can reach you. If your own content was removed and you think that was a mistake, write to the same address and we will look again.
9. Playing fair
You must not:
- attack, overload or probe the site, or get around its limits;
- use a bug or mistake to gain a rank, an achievement or prestige you did not pay for or earn;
- report transactions that are not yours, or try to claim someone else's payment;
- use the site to move the proceeds of crime or to get around sanctions.
We may undo anything gained this way, remove the account from the board, and refuse further payments, without a refund. If you find a security problem, please tell us at [to be completed: a way to contact you: an email address or a link] before telling anyone else.
10. No promise that it will always work
The site is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will be available, free of errors, or that it will keep running. It depends on blockchains, wallets, price feeds and other services we do not control, and they fail from time to time. We may correct the board if an error or an exploit has affected it, pause payments, or close the site. If the site closes, ranks end with it and no payment is refunded.
11. Our liability
To the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for losses caused by blockchains, wallets, token prices, third-party services, your own mistakes when sending a payment, or other players' actions and content;
- we are not liable for loss of profit, opportunity or reputation, or for indirect loss;
- our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid through the site in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud, or for death or injury caused by negligence, and nothing takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in.
12. The site itself
The site's name, design, artwork, mascot, badges and software belong to us or to those who licensed them to us. You may share screenshots and links. You may not copy the site or its artwork for anything else without our permission.
13. Your information
How we handle information about you is described in the Privacy Policy. Remember that blockchain payments are public and permanent.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version and date are shown at the top. You will be asked to accept the current version before your next payment; moves you already made stay under the version you accepted at the time.
15. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the place the site is operated from. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in and may bring a claim in its courts. Please write to us first: most problems can be settled by email.
